Who we are

In this Privacy and Information Handling Policy, we’, ‘us’, ‘our’ and ‘InsurePride’ refers to InsurePride Australia Incorporated (INC2400660).

This policy outlines the information we collect, when and how we collect it, how we handle it, and how you can request a copy of your information or request its removal.

What data is collected

What information we collect and store is dependent on how you engage with InsurePride. It will vary depending on whether you are a member of InsurePride, have attended events hosted by InsurePride, registered for our mailing list, have made enquiries to us about our association, or participated in any research.

For members that have registered with InsurePride, we may collect the following information to support your membership:

  • Full Name
  • Company you are employed or are associated with
  • What insurance category you work within, or what affiliated industry you work in
  • Email Address
  • Location (State)
  • Date you joined InsurePride

If requesting the removal of your membership with InsurePride, we will note the date membership ceased but may still maintain information regarding the company and insurance segment, state and join date. But we will de-identify personal details such as full name and email.

We may also hold limited personal information you provide in response to an event registration and when enquiring about InsurePride or sponsorship.

If attending an in-person event, we may store information regarding dietary requirements or adjustments for disabilities in order to accommodate needs.

Sensitive information Collection

As we are specifically an LGBTQIA+ Association for the insurance industry, we may additionally ask for census and demographical information such as sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status. This is for the purposes of statistical investigation or development of InsurePride, but these will always be optional and anonymous, and not associated with your personal details.

When we collect data

We may collect personal information from you across various mediums, including when you:

  • Become a member of InsurePride;
  • Become a sponsor or official partner of InsurePride
  • contact us in person, by phone, via mail, email or online (e.g. via LinkedIn), or when we contact you in any of these ways;
  • attend an event hosted by InsurePride; or
  • participate in research, workshops or roundtables.

What we do with that data

Personal information is collected for the sole purpose of facilitating membership and engagement with InsurePride. This may include:

  • contacting members about upcoming events and meetings;
  • research or working group opportunities;
  • evaluating our association activities;
  • notifying members of annual general meetings or important updates regarding the association;
  • facilitating requests for support or participation from other members, community groups, industry bodies or other organisations;
  • participation in InsurePride programs;
  • creating and managing sponsorship or partnerships;
  • responding to enquiries;
  • requests for input, feedback or quality control; or
  • internal administration and membership tracking.

If you do not wish to receive notifications from us, you can opt out at any time by contacting us directly. In some instances, you can opt out automatically when we communicate with you with an unsubscribe link.

If you request not to receive notifications or communications, please note that we will still contact you in relation to our on-going relationship with you such as administering membership, or if you hold a sponsorship/partnership with us.

We may contact you to offer new options for how you can receive membership and communications as we migrate to newer systems, and may contact you to ask about your communication preferences.

If you cease your membership with InsurePride, you will no longer receive any communications unless you re-subscribe.

Who we share your data with

Co-Leads of InsurePride have access to this information as well as historical information at any time.

From time to time, we may provide high-level information regarding engagement from industries to our community partners, but this is always anonymised. If you do not want your participation in InsurePride known to community partners (such as ACON), please advise when you join or at any time.

How we store your data

We store all data securely on Australian hosted servers and data centres with ISO 27001 certifications.

InsurePride will hold your information for a period of time if membership with InsurePride ceases for the purposes of any reasonable contact. If that is no longer required, data is de-identified and personal information is removed.

Embedded content from other websites or links to external websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. InsurePride is not responsible for information handling management on these sites, and recommend reviewing any privacy policies available on 3rd party websites.

What rights you have over your data

InsurePride can be contacted at any time to request an exported file of the data we hold on you, and can also request that we erase any personal data at any time. We will aim to meet your request within a reasonable time and in the manner requested by you if it is reasonable to do so. Note, this does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
